Usage / Costs

You can view your usage for any billing cycle by clicking on the "Usage and Logs" link on the left and selecting the Usage tab:

The dropdown allows you to pick the billing cycle that you are viewing.

Basics

TalkButton bills on a per minute basis and we always round up a call to the next minute so for example, a 30 second call with the AI would be billed as 1 minute. A 5 minute and 22 second call with the AI would be billed as 6 minutes.

AI Minutes

AI minutes refers to any time that the AI is active on a call. We split this into Live and Testing. By default, all TalkButton accounts get a certain allowance of testing AI minutes every month (this varies per account).

Testing minutes will not be billed until it surpasses this allowance amount. Live minutes are always billed.

Human Minutes

Human minutes refers to any time that the call is still active but the AI is no longer a part of it, for example if the call was transferred to someone in the company.

Human minutes are only charged for purchased phone numbers. If you are using your own Twilio numbers, we do not charge human minutes for any calls to those numbers.

Phone Numbers

We only charge a monthly rate for purchased phone numbers, we do not charge for any Twilio numbers that you own.

Total Cost

The total cost in general will be

(# Live AI Minutes * AI Rate) +
(# Testing AI minutes exceeding allowance * AI Rate) +
(# Human minutes * Human Rate) +
(# Purchased Phone Numbers * Monthly Phone Number Cost)

Please note that some accounts have a negotiated rate and will not always follow the above formula.
